In schools we expect there to be conflict due to the sheer number of individuals all in relatively close proximity with one another. All misunderstanding and conflict in relationships are a learning opportunity for our young women at MSCW. Not all relationship issues are bullying.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a systemic school of the Archdiocese of Sydney MSCW is governed by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au\/policies\/anti-bullying-policy\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Prevention and Management of Student Bullying Policy<\/span><\/a> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(see excerpt and link below)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) is committed to providing a respectful, safe and supportive<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">learning environment for students. <\/span><b><i>Bullying undermines the dignity and wellbeing of each<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><i>student, and SCS considers all forms of bullying behaviour unacceptable.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Bullying is intentional and repeated behaviour that involves the ongoing misuse of power that can cause physical and\/or psychological harm to a student.<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bullying behaviour can be verbal, physical, social (e.g. excluding, alienating behaviour) and psychological (spreading rumours, sending hurtful messages or comments) and includes bullying via social media and other online platforms (cyber-bullying).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bullying can involve discrimination, intimidation and harassment. Bullying behaviours may be <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">individual or collective behaviours which occur on or outside school premises and during or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">after school hours. Some bullying may constitute criminal conduct such as assault, threatening <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">behaviours, property damage or harassment and stalking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The purpose of this policy is to support SCS school communities to prevent and address issues of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">student bullying in order to build respectful relationships.
