The feast of Our Lady Help of Christians was celebrated in Parishes on Saturday 24th May to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary\u2019s powerful intercession and maternal protection, especially in times of trial and danger. This title of Mary became widely known after Pope Pius VII instituted the feast on May 24 in gratitude for his safe return to Rome in 1814 after being imprisoned by Napoleon. The devotion emphasises Mary\u2019s role as a helper and protector of the Church and the faithful.<\/span><\/p>\n Thank you to Isabella Elkorr, Sarah Mourani and Sofia Vella for representing the College at the Mass.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mrs Veronica Del Buono, Assistant Religious Education Coordinator<\/em><\/i><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Last Friday, Year 11 and 12 students from our local deanery schools gathered at Holy Cross College for the Deanery Youth Afternoon. Marist College Eastwood and Holy Cross College joined 42 representatives from Marist Sisters\u2019 College to explore the theme \u201cPilgrims of Hope in a Modern World.\u201d Imogen and Sofia from Sydney Catholic Youth delivered inspiring talks on the role of faith in guiding personal journeys. It was lovely to see students put themselves forward to experience what the Youth Afternoons are all about – encouraging and inspiring one another through shared faith and connection. The event concluded with a pizza dinner and a chance to build new friendships, before Father Brian from St Kevin\u2019s, Eastwood, led the group in a closing prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The MIA group meets every Day 6, Monday at lunch in Room 131. <\/a>This term, the Marists in Action (MIA) group has been hard at work brainstorming ways to make a meaningful impact for World Environment Day on the 5th of June. From discussing waste reduction strategies to exploring creative ways to promote sustainability on campus, we\u2019re committed to turning ideas into action. Our group has been collaborating to develop initiatives that inspire real change, and we\u2019re excited to bring these plans to life.
