But what does this mean? In 2011 Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI wrote the following about the meaning of the ascension:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">[The ascension of Jesus] expresses our belief that in Christ human nature, the humanity in which we all share, has entered into the inner life of God in a new and hitherto unheard of way.\u00a0 It means that man has found an everlasting place in God.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For the disciples, the &#8220;ascension&#8221; was not what we usually misinterpret it as being: the temporary absence of Christ from the world.\u00a0 It meant rather his new, definitive, and irrevocable presence by participation in God&#8217;s royal power&#8230; God has a place for man!\u2026 In God there is a place for us!\u2026&#8221;Be consoled, flesh and blood, for in Christ you have taken possession of heaven and of God&#8217;s kingdom!&#8221; (Tertullian)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholiceducation.org\/en\/religion-and-philosophy\/spiritual-life\/the-meaning-of-the-ascension.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">https:\/\/www.catholiceducation.org\/en\/religion-and-philosophy\/spiritual-life\/the-meaning-of-the-ascension.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>\u00a0<\/h4>\n<h4><b><i>SAINT MARCELLIN CHAMPAGNAT\u2019S FEAST DAY (6 June)<\/i><\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-02-at-11.58.14\u202fam.png\" data-rel=\"lightcase\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13752 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-02-at-11.58.14\u202fam.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"287\" height=\"204\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-02-at-11.58.14\u202fam.png 287w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-02-at-11.58.14\u202fam-211x150.png 211w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 287px) 100vw, 287px\" \/><\/a>This week we celebrate the Feast of St Marcellin Champagnat, one of the founding priests of the Marist Movement and the patron of our Marcellin House. Marcellin green was prominent throughout the week as they raised funds for Marist Mission and the Balay Banaag Project in Philippines. Marcellin saw a need in his world and decided to take action by providing an education for the poorest and most underprivileged members of his society. The House that has taken his name at MSCW continued his work this week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Marcellin\u2019s strong will made him a determined and persistent leader. These qualities were great gifts. Marcellin Champagnat took seriously the Good News of Jesus Christ. <\/span><b>He was a holy man because he lived his ordinary life exceptionally well and did ordinary things with extraordinary love. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Having discovered the joy of the gospel and letting it transform him, Marcellin wanted to share with others, particularly the young, all that he had seen and heard. \u201cTo love God,\u201d Marcellin often said, \u201cand to labour to make God known and loved \u2013 this is what a brother\u2019s life should be.\u201d With these few words, the future saint painted his own portrait and recounted his own story. His was a heart that knew no bounds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>We pray this week above all that through Marcellin\u2019s example we can place ourselves in God\u2019s hands and by His grace be people who show do ordinary things with extraordinary love!<\/b><\/p>\n<h4>\u00a0<\/h4>\n<h4><b><i>PENTECOST (8 June)<\/i><\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-02-at-12.04.20\u202fpm.png\" data-rel=\"lightcase\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13755 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-02-at-12.04.20\u202fpm.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"342\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-02-at-12.04.20\u202fpm.png 342w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-02-at-12.04.20\u202fpm-320x253.png 320w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-02-at-12.04.20\u202fpm-190x150.png 190w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 342px) 100vw, 342px\" \/><\/a>Pentecost is a Christian holiday, observed on the seventh Sunday after Easter, that celebrates the blessing of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ, as mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblestudytools.com\/acts\/passage\/?q=acts+2:1-31\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Acts 2:1-31<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">). The day of Pentecost is known in the Christian Church as the day on which the Spirit descended upon the apostles. Guided by Peter&#8217;s preaching, many thousands were converted in Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Why do Christians celebrate Pentecost?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cModern Christians observe Pentecost as a holiday, not to celebrate a wheat harvest, but to remember when the Holy Spirit invaded the Church in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblestudytools.com\/acts\/2.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Acts 2<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianity.com\/jesus\/early-church-history\/pentecost\/where-did-pentecost-come-from.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">https:\/\/www.christianity.com\/jesus\/early-church-history\/pentecost\/where-did-pentecost-come-from.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The description states that, after Jesus ascended into heaven, Jesus\u2019 followers were gathered together for the Feast of Harvest (aka Pentecost), and the Holy Spirit \u201cfilled the whole house where they were sitting\u201d. \u201cAll of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them\u201d. This unusual event drew a large crowd, and Peter stood up to speak to them about repentance and the gospel of Christ. By the end of the day that the Holy Spirit came, the Church grew by 3,000 people. It\u2019s not just about a heart on fire (though it is \ud83d\udd25), it\u2019s about how deeply Jesus cares for YOU, no matter what.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a world that can be cold or full of pressure, the <\/span><b>Sacred Heart reminds us<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that <\/span><b>God\u2019s love is warm, personal, and constant.<\/b><\/p>\n<h5><b>Why It Matters to Us<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">High school can be full-on. Deadlines. Friendships. Family dramas. Life gets messy.
