This data helps in tracking students\u2019 growth in learning and is the most up to date data we use. Previously students sat the AAS tests in Yr 6. By conducting these tests every 2 years, it gives us a clear understanding of the ability and performance of all students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ability data reflects:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">General reasoning<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Verbal reasoning<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Non verbal reasoning<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The performance data informs us on how students performed in reading, maths, spelling and writing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students are assessed and placed in a stanine from 1-9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How does this data assist with placement in the Newman class?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It helps give us an idea of ability. As seen in the diagram, we can then look at supporting students who are deemed highly gifted, gifted or high potential.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These are meant to be a snapshot in time and a useful tool for knowing our learners strengths and areas for improvement. It also helps in the formation of flexible groups when students need to collaborate.
