I hope everyone has settled back into their learning and is excited to be back for Term 3.\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

I also hope parents and students were able to reflect on their semester 1 results and meet their teachers for parent teacher interviews. These are invaluable. It is your opportunity as parents to meet the people who are nurturing and supporting your daughter everyday. It is also an opportunity to celebrate achievement and growth and reflect on how to move forward when the results have not been as expected.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Newman Program at MSCW is thriving. Your daughter should be coming home everyday excited about her learning and feeling challenged. In the day to day of school life, the program <\/span>offers our gifted and talented students academic rigour, creative and critical thinking experiences and enrichment opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n

I refer to the principles from SCS regarding the Newman Program and its aims:<\/span><\/p>\n

3.1 Giftedness is present in every culture, socio- economic context and a variety of domains.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.2 All students have the right to receive an education that is responsive to their needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.3 Effective school environments based upon quality teaching, learning and leadership are essential for helping all students achieve their potential.<\/span><\/p>\n

Learning goes hand in hand with their social and emotional wellbeing. Where your daughter is struggling, it is important you reach out. I am also open to hearing about the learning your daughter is experiencing in class.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tomorrow, I will join some of the philosophy students and Newman students for the Thriving Minds Conference. This is a day of critical thinking, where students will listen to lectures from Oxford University professors and discuss big philosophical ideas from Descartes and the intricate debate between science and miracles.<\/span><\/p>\n
