Term 3 has begun with much excitement and energy as our new Student Leaders introduced their theme \u201cIgnite your light, Together we shine\u201d<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As you would be aware, the Paris Olympics is in full swing and providing the perfect inspiration for our MSCW girls to shine<\/em><\/strong> in the Student Leadership Team activities. These Paris games, and the multiple achievements we have witnessed, demonstrate that goal setting, hard work and determination can reap benefits as well as personal and team satisfaction. Our\u00a0 students can not only adopt a similar approach towards their academic pursuits, but as well in their inter-House competitions, thereby gaining valuable House points.. One of the first activities of the Student Leadership Team is their coordination of the \u201cMSCW Olympics\u201d<\/em><\/strong>. They share their progress later in this Newsletter.<\/p>\n

The recent Athletics Carnival at the former Olympic Stadium was a huge success. It was a delight to see students participating and achieving personal bests. Congratulations to the Sports Coordinator, Mr Dan Watts, and PDHPE staff for the running of events on the day. Final results to come.<\/p>\n

This Term we welcome Cara Barilla to the Inclusive Learning Team and Lynda Challenger to the Science faculty as Lab Assistant.<\/p>\n

Humpty Dumpty Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

At our first Assembly this term, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation attended to acknowledge the girls participation and present the College with the Humpty Cup. <\/strong>This Cup recognises the Sydney school who raised the highest amount of money to support the Humpty Dumpty Foundation to \u201chelp sick kids in hospital\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Typical of our girls community giving spirit, MSCW raised $6467.00 <\/strong>this year through their energetic involvement in the Balmoral Burn, one of Sydney\u2019s outstanding community events. This outcome doubled the efforts of 2023. The money raised has been used to purchase a Connex Vital Signs Monitor with stand for the Hornsby Ku-ring-Gai Maternity Hospital (see image below). \u00a0This vital equipment allows health care teams to accurately assess a range of vital signs like temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels within paediatric care settings. The monitor recognises deteriorating clinical conditions immediately, and this allows for early intervention to avoid risks and adverse outcomes for the patient. It is a very important piece of equipment to have in the ward.<\/p>\n

Thank you to every girl who ran on the day and to those who sponsored them. These types of contributions are a very active way that we can be of service and give back to the wider community.<\/p>\n
