Year 7 2022 Orientation
The College was buzzing last week as we welcomed our Year 7 2022 Marist girls for Orientation. The afternoon gave us the first glimpse of our Year 7 2022 students and gave them their first experience of Marist Sisters’ College. The new Year 7s were introduced to our Marist Compass and provided with small hints about the adventures that await them at MSCW. Our College Co-Captains, Chelsea Colantuono and Jacinta FitzGerald, gave a lively account of their many personal experiences at MSCW. This was followed by some engaging ‘getting to know you’ games capably led by the Student Leadership Team. They included a creative, fun activity that let the new Year 7s discover and learn more about each of their House Patrons. Below are some photos of the afternoon.
HSC Exams – 1 week to go!
Our Year 12 students complete their Higher School Certificate Examinations next Friday, 3 December. It has been a long, testing journey but they have successfully met the challenge with a positive attitude and impressive determination. Thank you to the families and community members who have supported them in prayer and encouragement during this time. I know our Year 12 students will also be looking forward to their formal on 15 December at Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf, Pyrmont. With the difficulties of COVID-19 behind them, I look forward to celebrating with the girls and their parents.
Welcome back to all!
On Monday we welcome all Year Groups back on-site. It will be great to see our entire College community back together for the first time in many months and see them reconnect face to face.
Gala Day is in the air
With only two weeks to go until Gala Day on Friday, 10 December, I can feel the anticipation and excitement of the day approaching. I warmly congratulate our Year 11 students for the energetic and creative ways in which they have prepared our Junior students for our traditional College Gala Day. Much of the preparation has been completed remotely but this has not deterred the energy and competitive spirit. In this COVID-19 year of challenges, events such as these are more important than ever for building community spirit, strengthening a sense of belonging and joyfully bringing 2021 to a close. To assist in the management of Gala Day, we will be ensuring that our students remain COVID-safe by placing the Year Group who is hosting the entertainment in face-to-face mode in the hall, while others will see it by livestream in their Year Groups. This set-up will be rotated throughout the day. I wish all the Houses well in their preparations and look forward to seeing all the talents of our girls shine on the day! Who will be the winning House for 2021?
