What a fantastic start to the term last week, with students participating in a wide range of sporting pursuits. It was wonderful to see the MLC School colours proudly represented and supporters cheering from the sidelines. As we gear up for a big term of sport, I hope every student embraces the opportunities to participate, challenge themselves and connect with others.<\/p>\n
This week, I\u2019d like to reflect on how sport gives us opportunities to put our values into action.<\/p>\n
Courage <\/strong>is stepping onto the court, field or into the pool, trying something new and giving your best, even when the outcome is uncertain.<\/p>\n Compassion<\/strong> is noticing when someone needs encouragement, supporting a teammate after a mistake and remembering that everyone has a place in sport.<\/p>\n Respect<\/strong> is shown in how we treat teammates, opponents, coaches and officials, whatever the result.<\/p>\n Growth<\/strong> comes from consistent effort, listening to feedback, and learning from both success and disappointment.<\/p>\n This week, I encourage every student to choose one of these Values and put it into practice. Success can be a personal best, a brave first attempt or helping someone else feel that they belong. Each is something to celebrate.<\/p>\n
