Last weekend, MLCSACU cadets completed a rewarding Promotion Camp at Holsworthy Army Barracks, bringing together the CUO and SGT promotion courses. Across the weekend, cadets were challenged to demonstrate leadership, teamwork, communication, fieldcraft and personal organisation.<\/p>\n

The Sergeant course included navigation, checkpoint rotations, drill, inspections, field routines and a night move, while the CUO course focused on planning, activity delivery, interviews and decision-making. Throughout the camp, cadets stepped into leadership roles with purpose and maturity. They gave orders, managed syndicates, solved problems, maintained accountability and supported one another through each activity.<\/p>\n

Cadets also benefited from valuable learning experiences across the barracks. CUO candidates were spoken to by members of 2 Commandos, while SGT candidates spent time with the Lancers, gaining insight into Army service, leadership and military history.<\/p>\n

For the Sergeants, the night move was a memorable challenge: perhaps a disturbance to sleep at the time, but a highlight in hindsight.<\/p>\n

The weekend concluded with visits to the Weapon Training Simulation System, the Engineering Museum and the chapel, where cadets learnt more about the role of the Padre and the support provided through reflection, pastoral care and connection.<\/p>\n

Promotion Camp is about more than earning a new rank. It develops confidence, judgement, responsibility and the ability to lead others with care. Our cadets should be proud of the effort they displayed across the weekend and throughout their courses.<\/p>\n

A huge thank you goes to the staff who have supported and led these courses throughout the year and over the weekend. Their guidance, time and commitment ensured our cadets were well prepared, well challenged and well supported throughout the promotion process.<\/p>\n
