Last Friday, 50 enthusiastic students from Year 5 to Year 9 gathered in The Whitley Room to take part in Write a Book in a Day<\/em>, an annual creative writing challenge and fundraiser supporting The Kids’ Cancer Project.<\/p>\n

Working in teams, students had just ten hours to plan, write and illustrate an original book. Year 5 and Year 6 teams produced stories of 1,500\u20132,500 words, while Year 7 to Year 9 teams tackled the challenge of writing between 3,500\u20135,000 words. To add an extra layer of complexity, each team was required to incorporate a unique set of characters, words and story elements into their book.<\/p>\n

Throughout the day, The Whitley Room was filled with creativity, collaboration and plenty of excitement as students brainstormed ideas, solved problems together and encouraged one another to meet the deadline. There was also no shortage of snacks to keep everyone fuelled for the marathon writing session!<\/p>\n

Collectively, the students raised more than $7,000<\/strong> for The Kids’ Cancer Project, helping to fund vital research into childhood cancer.<\/p>\n
