\"\"<\/a><\/strong>Welcome back to Term 3! The theme of this break was academic pursuit and intellectual rigour in many forms.<\/p>\n

Year 12 Study Camp<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well done to the Year 11 and Year 12 students who were on campus throughout the break in large numbers attending the Study Camp held in Week 1. It was fantastic to see the dedication of our girls pursuing their goals with determination and effort. Our teachers offered opportunities for students to progress major works and ran revision workshops in a variety of subjects. We thank our Head of Learning and Teaching, Heads of Department, Curriculum Leaders and Senior School teachers for generously giving their time to provide additional learning opportunities for our students.<\/p>\n

We are pleased to offer Study Camp again in Week 1 of the September\/October term break.<\/p>\n

Oxford Royale \u2013 Futures and Pathways Tour<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a keen group of MLC School Year 10 and Year 11 students took part in the inaugural Oxford Royale Futures and Pathways Tour, an extraordinary opportunity to experience rich academic extension in one of the world\u2019s most renowned centres of learning, Oxford University in the United Kingdom. Imagine studying where Nobel Laureates once dreamed and the world’s greatest literary works were born!\u00a0 From Literature and Philosophy to the Law, Engineering, Business, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Architecture & Design, MIT Future Builders, to Experimental Psychology our students were exposed to university style learning at Oxford, joining a tradition of academic excellence with students from across the globe. They were able to live and learn in beautiful historic colleges, dine in iconic halls and take part in authentic university traditions. With its timeless beauty, they discovered the magic of Oxford, learnt from leading experts and returned home inspired.<\/p>\n

Feedback from the program highlighted the girls\u2019 were outstanding ambassadors through their participation, achievement, and leadership, affirming not only their individual growth but also the strength of the academic culture we nurture at MLC School.<\/p>\n

One student reflected \u201cI never once regretted attending this experience. It was a challenging but incredibly rewarding opportunity that allowed me to grow both academically and personally\u2026 while getting valuable insight into what my future career might look like\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

Experiences such as these broaden horizons, deepen aspirations, and provide powerful exposure to global pathways, reminding us that excellence in academic outcomes are enriched by opportunities that challenge students to think expansively, act courageously and imagine their futures with confidence. Thank you to Marianna Carlino<\/strong> and Amy Kirk<\/strong> for accompanying the girls on the tour so capably. We look forward to this being a biennial event with our next tour planning underway for Oxford 2028.<\/p>\n

Facilities upgrades <\/strong><\/p>\n

The term break has been a busy one at MLC School, with our IT and Facilities teams making the most of the opportunity to complete a variety of improvements and upgrades including refurbishment of the main school Reception area and removal of trees and an upgrade to the garden around Reception.<\/p>\n

IGSA Junior Sport<\/strong><\/p>\n

MLC School is pleased to share that the Independent Girls\u2019 Schools Association (IGSA) will launch a new IGSA Junior School Sport Program in January 2027. Known as IGSA Junior Sport, the program will provide girls in IGSA Members\u2019 Junior Schools with a comprehensive and inclusive sporting framework designed to encourage participation, skill development and enjoyment.<\/p>\n

Until now, MLC School\u2019s Junior School sporting program has been delivered through Independent Primary School Heads Association (IPSHA), a long established association for independent primary schools that includes girls\u2019, boys\u2019 and co-educational schools. IPSHA has provided valuable opportunities for students to participate in Saturday sport, major carnivals and representative selection pathways. The move to IGSA Junior Sport builds on this strong foundation while offering a more intentionally girls-centred approach to the planning and delivery of sport and physical activity. For families, the most significant change will be a sporting experience designed specifically for girls, aligned with the broader IGSA framework and creating greater continuity between our Junior School and Senior School sporting programs.<\/p>\n

The program will provide high-quality Saturday sport competitions, representative pathway opportunities and a full calendar of carnivals, supporting students to build strong foundations for lifelong physical activity. Importantly, this framework recognises that sport is about more than competition. It is about belonging, teamwork, courage, persistence, leadership and joy. By placing girls at the centre of the experience, IGSA Junior Sport will create environments where students can try new activities, develop their skills, grow in confidence and build positive sporting identities from the earliest years.<\/p>\n

In 2027, 23 IGSA member schools will participate in the program, with 19 schools, including MLC School, taking part in all three offerings: Saturday sport, representative pathway trials and the carnival program. This broad participation will give our students access to strong, age-appropriate competition within a network of girls\u2019 schools that share a commitment to excellence, inclusion and student development.<\/p>\n

The seasonal program will include a range of familiar and new sporting opportunities across the year, including Water Polo, Flippaball and Football in Term 1; Netball, Minkey and Hockey in Term 2; Touch Football and Badminton (a new offering) in Term 3; and Basketball and Tennis in Term 4. IGSA Junior Sport will also provide structured representative trial opportunities, giving talented student-athletes the chance to progress to higher levels of competition, including NSW Combined Independent Schools Sports and Primary Schools Sports Association representative teams through IGSA trials and carnivals.<\/p>\n
