One of the most significant parts of MLC School culture is Service<\/strong>. From the student run bake sales to the online fundraisers, MLC School students are always reminded of the importance of giving back to the community.<\/p>\n

Service is one of the six Round Square IDEALS, which is why it is such an important part of our school. We are always trying to incorporate those IDEALS, which are Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership <\/strong>and Service<\/strong>, into the daily learning of MLC School students.<\/p>\n

Each house holds an event each year to raise money for a charity of their choice. Some examples of this are the Lester L\u2019Amore bake sale occurring around Valentines Day each year to raise money for The Smith Family,<\/em> or the widely loved Prescott Puppy Pageant from which all funds go to Seeing Eye Dogs Australia.<\/em><\/p>\n

Another reason students run service events, is for the Year 11 IB students\u2019 CAS projects. Attached is a photo of a group of these IB students running a stall which sold white t-shirts for fellow students to buy and wear at the Sony Camp colour run. All the funds went towards the Sony Camp Campaign that the School runs annually to provide children with life-altering disabilities a fun experience during the holidays and provide their parents with the opportunity to take care of themselves more as student volunteers help with their kids.<\/p>\n

There are opportunities provided by the School to some students, for example a few Year 8s got the opportunity to meet and interact with some elders living in aged care with Stronger Together. <\/strong>Some photos of their experience can be seen attached.<\/p>\n

MLC School students are encouraged to speak to teachers about running charity events at lunchtimes or recess\u2019 for their peers if they have found a charity they would like to support.<\/p>\n
