{"id":46251,"date":"2026-06-26T12:06:47","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T02:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/mlc\/?post_type=article&#038;p=46251"},"modified":"2026-06-26T12:06:48","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T02:06:48","slug":"cis-cross-country-championships","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/mlc\/article\/cis-cross-country-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"CIS Cross Country Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"elementToProof\">Congratulations to our MLC School IGSA representatives who competed at the NSW CIS Secondary Cross Country Championships held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre this week.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">MLC School was proudly represented by:<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Gem McGuire<\/strong> (Year 5)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Arielle McBrien<\/strong> (Year 7)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Jemima Pun<\/strong> (Year 7)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Olivia Kalamvokis<\/strong> (Year 9)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Lucy Martin<\/strong> (Year 9)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Ruth Costello<\/strong> (Year 10)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Veronica Pan<\/strong> (Year 10)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Eadie Scott<\/strong> (Year 11)<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;letter-spacing: 0px\">The Championships provided a fantastic experience for all of our athletes, who represented MLC School.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">We are especially pleased to announce that three MLC School athletes have been selected to continue their cross-country campaigns at the next level. <strong>Gem McGuire<\/strong> (Year 5) finished 2nd and will compete at the NSW PSSA Cross Country Championships on <strong>Wednesday 22 July 2026,<\/strong> while <strong>Olivia Kalamvokis<\/strong> (Year 9) 3<sup>rd<\/sup> and <strong>Jemima Pun<\/strong> (Year 7) 10<sup>th<\/sup> have also qualified for the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships on <strong>Tuesday 21 July 2026.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Unfortunately, our Cross Country Captain, <strong>Ruth Costello<\/strong> (Year 10)\u00a0was unwell and unable to compete. We wish Ruth a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back in action for next term&#8217;s athletics season during Term 3.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">In Ruth&#8217;s absence, we would also like to acknowledge and thank <strong>Lucy Martin<\/strong> (Year 9), who stayed behind after her own event to support Gem McGuire as her guide runner. Lucy&#8217;s willingness to\u00a0assist\u00a0a teammate and contribute to the success of others is a wonderful example of the spirit and values of MLC School.
