The purpose of this training was to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure all staff are equipped with up-to-date, practical skills to respond confidently in emergency situations<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen our collective capacity to provide immediate and effective care in critical moments<\/li>\n<li>Reinforce our shared responsibility for student wellbeing across all school contexts<\/li>\n<li>Build confidence in applying life-saving protocols in real-time scenarios<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This training reflects our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, responsive, and prepared learning environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whole School Teaching and Learning Goal | Week 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Week 2, staff across the Junior and Senior School came together to reconnect with our whole school goal:<br \/>\n&#8216;<strong>To challenge every girl at her point of need.&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Guided by James Anderson\u2019s <em>Learnership<\/em>, this work focused on strengthening student agency and deepening understanding of how learners grow. Chapter Colelctive offers a flexible, low-pressure approach to professional learning.<\/p>\n<p>Centred on James Anderson\u2019s <em>Learnership<\/em>, this initiative invites staff to engage in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weekly 30-minute sessions focused on key ideas, chapters, or related podcast insights<\/li>\n<li>Facilitated discussions connecting research to classroom and leadership practice<\/li>\n<li>Bite-sized, meaningful learning that is easily transferable to teaching contexts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The focus this term is on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deepening understanding of learner agency<\/li>\n<li>Exploring the research underpinning challenge, growth, and adaptive expertise<\/li>\n<li>Sharing ideas across teams in an accessible and collaborative format<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/mlc\/article\/professional-practice-update-2\/learnership-book\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-45449\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-45449 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2026\/05\/Learnership-Book.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"488\" height=\"488\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2026\/05\/Learnership-Book.jpeg 488w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2026\/05\/Learnership-Book-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hub Schools Teaching Conference | Week 4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Week 4, three teachers <strong>(Amy Murphy, John Purcal<\/strong> and <strong>Melissa Bye)<\/strong> and two f our MLC School Hub Interns <strong>(Jade Brogan<\/strong> and <strong>Ela Huber)<\/strong> attended the Hub Schools Teaching Conference in Port Macquarie.<\/p>\n<p>The conference provided targeted learning across three streams:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pre-service teachers<\/strong> \u2013 building confidence and classroom readiness<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mentors<\/strong> \u2013 strengthening coaching and support approaches<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leadership<\/strong> \u2013 exploring strategic workforce and professional growth initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Highlights included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Opportunities to engage with contemporary research and practice in education<\/li>\n<li>Networking with colleagues across the independent sector<\/li>\n<li>Rich professional dialogue around mentoring, sustainability, and teacher development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MLC School was proudly represented on conference panels:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Amy Murphy<\/strong> \u2013 <em>Workforce Challenges and Sustainability in the Independent Sector<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>John Purcal <\/strong>\u2013 <em>The Power of Mentoring &amp;
