On Saturday, I had the honour of attending the Burwood RSL ANZAC Service and the Sydney CBD ANZAC Day commemorations as part of the MLCSACU. The Burwood Dawn Service was a beautiful morning, the bagpipes, speeches and poetry set the scene for me to reflect on what the day truly means and the Australian Spirit we celebrate. I was proud to see not only the MLC cadet unit in attendance, but also the MLC School choir and band honouring the occasion.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Later in the day, I had the opportunity to attend the CBD commemorative march and helped carry a banner for one of the RSL clubs. It was\u00a0evident\u00a0that our participation was appreciated by the club’s senior members, adding a sense of purpose to the day. It was wonderful to see so many people waving Australian flags and commemorating our fallen soldiers and their sacrifices. A big thank you to CAPT(AAC) Maling and LT(AAC) Rudd for\u00a0organising\u00a0these events and bringing the MLCSACU to the high standard it is today.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Being apart of the ANZAC Service was a meaningful experience that made the significance of the day feel very real. I admired the community of people who came together to pay respects. ANZAC Day, to me, is about remembering sacrifice, courage, and resilience. It also reminds me of the deeper reasons I take part in cadets, to honour and commemorate those who fought in the war. It\u2019s not just about participation, but about carrying forward respect and understanding of their service. ANZAC Day also means taking time to reflect on the sacrifices made by people I will never meet, so I can live in safety and peace today.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, I had the\u00a0honour\u00a0of marching in the 2026 ANZAC Day city march as a cadet\u2014an experience I will never forget. Walking alongside veterans gave me a profound sense of respect and appreciation for those who have served our country. The opportunity to\u00a0personally thank them\u00a0was incredibly meaningful.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The parade allowed me to reflect on the sacrifice, courage, and\u00a0mateship\u00a0that define the ANZAC spirit. Marching beside veterans made the experience even more powerful, as their presence bridged the past and present. It was a moment filled with pride, reflection, and gratitude, and it deepened my understanding of the true significance of ANZAC Day.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
