From the practice rooms to the performance stage, music plays a powerful role in the life of our School. We are delighted to introduce a new Music feature celebrating the musical achievements of our students \u2013 recognising not only technical excellence, but dedication, courage and the joy of performance. In our first article, we proudly shine the spotlight on four students whose commitment and talent have seen them reach exciting milestones, inspire their peers and represent MLC School through music in outstanding ways.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Veronica Pan<\/b> (Year 10) \u2013 Clarinet<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Veronica attended the AMEB Diploma Ceremony on 8 March and received her LMusA with Distinction (Clarinet) certificate.\u00a0It was also a great honour for her to be invited to perform as a featured artist. She played the 1st movement of the Clarinet Concerto by Jean Francaix. It was a great opportunity and amazing achievement for Veronica.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Veronica also recently performed in the semi-finals of the 2026 Lane Cove Young Soloists Competition (26 April) and delivered an outstanding performance that earned her a place as one of only three finalists invited to perform again in June. This is a remarkable achievement that reflects her dedication, musical growth, and stage presence. We are incredibly proud of her and wish her every success for the finals.<\/div>\n

Jocelyn Su<\/b> (Year 11) \u2013 Clarinet<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Jocelyn attended the AMEB Diploma Ceremony\u00a0on 8 March, where she was formally presented with her AMusA Clarinet certificate through Australian Music Examinations Board, marking a significant milestone in her musical development and recognising her advanced level of performance and musicianship. This achievement reflects her sustained dedication, discipline, and musical maturity, and is especially commendable as she continues her studies in Year 11 Music 2, where she is further refining her analytical, performance, and interpretative skills at a high level.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Maya Tong-Ho (Year 7) French Horn<\/b><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Maya travelled to Brisbane during the Easter holidays as a member of the Castle Hill RSL Youth Wind Orchestra to compete in the Australian National Yamaha Band Championships, where the ensemble entered both the Open B and Junior A Grade sections and achieved outstanding success by winning championship titles in both categories. They performed four works in each section including a test piece, hymn, own choice, and stage march, and claimed all available trophies, resulting in a total of ten trophies across both grades at Brisbane City Hall. In addition, Maya competed in the Australian Yamaha National Solos in the Junior French Horn category as the youngest competitor among five participants.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Charlotte Hui (Year 8) Clarinet<\/b><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Charlotte achieved a Distinction in her Grade 5 Clarinet examination through Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, reflecting a high level of technical control, musical understanding, and expressive performance.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
