\"\"To be the very best teachers they can be for our girls, at MLC School we are interested in growing our teachers as learners. We encourage them to embrace further study opportunities and we provide a vibrant professional learning community that empowers teachers to experiment with pedagogy in a collegial and safe environment. We want our girls to know that learning involves productive struggle and sometimes, failure. By modelling positive risk-taking and challenge as learners, teachers create a space for students to tackle the challenges of learning head-on.<\/p>\n

This week, we are acknowledging and recognising the ways in which two of our teachers are stretching themselves as learners.<\/p>\n

We are proud to announce that Luke Philpotts,<\/strong> our new Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) teacher, recently achieved first place in the Legal Studies\u2019 Association Legal Briefs\u2019 journal for his article entitled, Seeing the Unseen: The Government\u2019s Approach to Coercive Control Reform.<\/em> Luke\u2019s article focused specifically on Domestic Violence and Coercive Control Reform \u2013 one of the biggest issues facing the criminal justice system in Australia at the moment.<\/p>\n

In a subject shaped by constant law reform, textbooks can become outdated almost as soon as they are published.\u00a0Legal Briefs\u00a0enables teachers to keep their finger on the pulse of legal change, while also fostering professional dialogue through the sharing of lesson ideas, pedagogical approaches, and high-quality Legal Studies resources.<\/p>\n

We are also celebrating Head of Composition, Alice Chance\u2019s<\/strong> contribution to the Music Teachers\u2019 Association Conference. You can read more about Alice\u2019s achievement HERE<\/a>. Congratulations to both Luke and Alice.<\/p>\n
