This week, MLC School was proud to host the annual International Women\u2019s Day Postcard, bringing together students from across Australia and around the world for a thoughtful and engaging discussion centred on the 2026 theme, Balancing the Scales.<\/em><\/p>\n

Despite some initial logistical challenges, our students demonstrated impressive flexibility, adaptability and composure. They responded to the changing circumstances with maturity, ensuring the event continued smoothly and that each conversation was led with articulation, depth and grace. Their ability to remain calm under pressure while creating a welcoming and inclusive environment was a credit to both themselves and the spirit of Round Square.<\/p>\n

The event drew an exciting and diverse group of delegates, with participants joining from as close as Newcastle and Orange, and as far as Tasmania, India and North Carolina, USA. This rich mix of perspectives added enormous value to the discussions, allowing students to explore issues surrounding gender equity through a global lens.<\/p>\n

Leading the Baraza groups were an outstanding team of student facilitators: Katherine Woo, Melisande Pitman, Caydence Sumantri<\/strong> and Hemani Ramesh<\/strong> from Year 10; Angelina Xu, Adelaide Abernethy<\/strong> and Ava McLean<\/strong> from Year 11; Jordan Vo<\/strong> from Year 12; and Round Square and Community Captain Emily Wu <\/strong>(Year 12). These student leaders guided conversations with confidence, empathy and insight, helping delegates feel heard while encouraging meaningful and respectful dialogue.<\/p>\n

The Postcard was a wonderful example of student leadership in action and reflected MLC School\u2019s commitment to fostering internationally minded young women who are prepared to engage thoughtfully with important global issues.<\/p>\n

\u2018Facilitating a Baraza group for the International Women\u2019s Day event was such a rewarding experience. It was inspiring to hear the diverse stories and perspectives shared, which reminded me how powerful open conversations can be in bringing people together even people with completely different backgrounds and experiences.\u2019
