It is a lovely opportunity for the girls to\u00a0showcase\u00a0some of their learning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parent Workshops<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>\nThis week we continued our offering of parent workshops, with Year 6 <em>Strengthening Positive Online Behaviour<\/em> and Pre-Kindergarten\u2019s <em>Laying the Foundations for Lifelong Learning<\/em>. The feedback has been very positive. I appreciate that it is not possible for all parents to attend; however, these sessions are designed to be delivered in person and are therefore scheduled prior to our Celebrations of Learning.<\/p>\n<p>Next Monday at 8am, Kindergarten\u2019s <em>Foundations of Early Literacy<\/em> will be held in The Daphne Line Hall. Current Pre-Kindergarten parents are most welcome to attend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staffing News<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As Term 1 concludes we thank <strong>Lina El-Khoury<\/strong> who has been teaching Year 3E. We are very fortunate to have such a skilled and dedicated educator on our team. Lina will continue to work at MLC School as a casual teacher whilst also working for the Faculty of Education at the University of NSW.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>\nThis week we announced that <strong>Eddie Park<\/strong> has been successfully appointed to the specialist teaching position of Technology, eLearning and Innovations Leader at PLC Sydney. This is a wonderful career opportunity for Eddie, and he will be greatly missed by students, parents and colleagues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We will also greatly miss <strong>Deborah Doyle,<\/strong> better known as Miss Debbie. She has given so much to the girls and staff during her years at MLC Junior School. Deb is retiring at the end of this term, and we hope to see her occasionally as she joins our casual teacher assistant team. We wish Eddie and Deb all the very best for the future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cardboard Challenge \u2013 a great success<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>\nWhat a wonderful community event. The evening was\u00a0a great success, filled with fun, teamwork,\u00a0creativity\u00a0and friendly competition,\u00a0and we even managed to avoid the rain! Thank you for your support and participation. The train carriages were fantastic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Mooramoora, the winner of the Cardboard Challenge trophy. It was a day of great spirit, participation and competition. Thank you to our Director of Sport, <strong>Scott Carpenter,<\/strong> the Sports department, and all the Junior School staff who supported this fun event.<\/p>\n<p>It was wonderful to see so many parents involved \u2013 many in House colours \u2013 cheering the girls on. Students are encouraged to come to school with the craziest, wackiest, and most imaginative hairstyles they can dream up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Remember to bring a gold coin donation, with all funds going to support the important work of the Leukaemia Foundation. Please note that hair dye and hair chalk are not permitted, however creativity and craziness are very much encouraged. We can\u2019t wait to see the wonderful ideas you come up with, and we appreciate your support for this cause.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p><strong>Easter Egg Drive<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>\nAs in previous years, students in Year 3 to Year 6 are invited to donate chocolate to our Easter Egg Drive. This is a service initiative, in lieu of students receiving Easter eggs at school.
