Selection Criteria and Conditions<\/p>\n

  1. Purpose<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The purpose of this document is to formally outline the criteria, conditions, and procedures governing the determination of\u00a0Swimming Age Champions\u00a0at MLC School.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Determination of Age Champions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      2.1 The 2026 MLC School Swimming Age Champions will be determined exclusively on the basis of student performance in the following events:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • The\u00a0MLC School Senior Swimming Carnival<\/strong>\u00a0conducted in\u00a0Term 2<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n
      • The\u00a0MLC School Swimming Championship Events<\/strong>\u00a0conducted in\u00a0Term 1<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        2.2 Students must compete in the designated Championship Events in order to be eligible for consideration as an Age Champion. Participation in non-championship or participation-only events will not be considered for Age Champion determination.<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Championship Events<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          3.1 The following\u00a0Age Championship Events<\/strong>\u00a0will be contested at the MLC School Senior Swimming Carnival:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • 50 metres Freestyle<\/li>\n
          • 50 metres Backstroke<\/li>\n
          • 50 metres Breaststroke<\/li>\n
          • 50 metres Butterfly<\/li>\n
          • 100 metres Freestyle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            3.2 The following Championship Events will be conducted prior to the Senior Swimming Carnival as part of the School Championships. Communication about these events will be provided with advanced notice via the newsletter at the start of the academic school year:<\/p>\n

              \n
            • 200 metres Freestyle<\/li>\n
            • 200 metres Individual Medley<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                \n
              1. Points Allocation and Calculation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                4.1 Each Championship Event will be calculated using an\u00a0individual points-based scoring system.<\/p>\n

                1st<\/sup>\u00a0= 5 points\u00a0<\/p>\n

                2nd<\/sup>\u00a0= 4 points\u00a0<\/p>\n

                3rd<\/sup>\u00a0= 3 points\u00a0<\/p>\n

                4th<\/sup>\u00a0= 2 points\u00a0<\/p>\n

                5th<\/sup>\u00a0= 1 point<\/p>\n

                6th<\/sup>\u00a0= 0 point<\/p>\n

                4.2 Points accrued by a student across all Championship Events entered will be totalled to determine the overall Age Champion for each age category.<\/p>\n

                4.3 No discretionary adjustments, exemptions, or alternative calculations will be applied under any circumstances, including but not limited to illness, injury, or absence from an event.<\/p>\n

                1. Nomination and Qualification Requirements<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  5.1 Students seeking to compete in Championship Events must submit the\u00a0MLC School Swimming Carnival Championship Events Nomination Form\u00a0by\u00a03:00 pm on the final school day of Term 1. Late nominations will not be accepted.<\/p>\n

                  5.2 To be eligible to submit a qualifying time it times must be :<\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • At an\u00a0approved competitive swimming event,<\/li>\n
                  • In a\u00a050-metre pool, and<\/li>\n
                  • Using\u00a0electronic timing, including\u00a0semi\u2011automatic timing (SAT).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    5.3 Qualifying times must have been achieved\u00a0on or after 1 January of the year preceding the championship year, and must be no more than\u00a012 months old\u00a0at the time of submission.<\/p>\n

                    5.4 All qualifying times will be verified by MLC School staff via\u00a0Results Central. Where results are recorded as private, verification may be provided in person to the\u00a0Director of Sport, subject to prior arrangement.<\/p>\n

                      \n
                    1. Event Seeding and Participation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      6.1 Eligible students will be notified prior to the Senior Swimming Carnival of their placement into Age Championship categories.<\/p>\n

                      6.2 For age categories with more than six competitors:<\/p>\n

                        \n
                      • Events will be conducted as\u00a0seeded heats, beginning with the fastest heat.<\/li>\n
                      • Lane allocation will be seeded from the centre lanes outward (Lane 3, 4, 2, 5, 1, 6).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                        6.3 Students without an approved qualifying time will\u00a0not\u00a0be permitted to compete in the first (fastest) heat of any Championship Event.<\/p>\n

                          \n
                        1. Age Group Classification<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                          7.1 Age categories are determined by the age a student turns\u00a0on or before 31 December in the year of the event.<\/p>\n

                          7.2 The Age Champion categories are defined as follows:<\/p>\n

                            \n
                          • Junior<\/strong>: Under 14 years<\/li>\n
                          • Intermediate<\/strong>: 15\u201316 years<\/li>\n
                          • Senior<\/strong>: 17 years and over<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                              \n
                            1. Championship Event Expectations and Conditions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                              8.1 Only performances in\u00a0Championship Events\u00a0will be considered in the calculation of individual Age Champion point scores.<\/p>\n

                              8.2 All Championship Event placings will:<\/p>\n

                                \n
                              • Contribute to\u00a0House points, in accordance with participation event scoring, and<\/li>\n
                              • Contribute to the student\u2019s\u00a0individual Age Champion point total.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                8.3 All nominated entry times must be accurate and verifiable. MLC School reserves the right to amend or reject entries where times cannot be substantiated.<\/p>\n

                                  \n
                                1. Final Determination<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                  9.1 The determination of Age Champions by MLC School is final.<\/p>\n

                                  9.2 By nominating for Championship Events, students and families acknowledge and accept the criteria, processes, and conditions outlined in this document.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
