We have a big year planned for sport at MLC School. We have been back for a number of days and already the School is alive with the girls training and preparing for the year in sport!

This year our theme for all our programs is making the impossible possible through sport. This is not just solely focused on record-breaking performances; instead, it is about empowering each individual to overcome self-doubt and embrace new challenges. In the coming year, we will encourage all students –even those who may be unsure or unfamiliar with certain sports – to participate. We believe that the next athletics star may well be in the hallways and have yet to discover their passion for sport. Ultimately, sport at MLC School isn’t just about winning (although we really really like to win!) – it’s about belonging. It’s about cheering so loudly at House Athletics Carnival that the neighbours start asking if we’re hosting a concert. It’s about high-fives, team bus singalongs, and those moments when a teammate helps you up and says, ‘You’ve got this.’ That’s the kind of community spirit that makes our School a place where everyone’s on the team.

Sport is not reserved for the super talented or experienced, but is open to everyone, especially those who may have questioned their own abilities. 2026 will be the time to challenge yourself and give something new a go, make the impossible possible!

We have already made significant strides in enhancing the overall sporting experience by investing in the development of our coaches, upgrading our training venues, and expanding the range of programs on offer. Our coaches last week undertook professional development and ‘coach the coach training’ and will continue to do so throughout the year with each new term of sport. We are embracing new techniques and approaches that cater to athletes of all skill levels, ensuring that every student receives tailored support, encouragement and greater skill development. You will have also noticed increased communication across all sports this term. If your daughter has signed up to a Term 1 sport you should have received several emails from the coordinator informing you of training days/plans for the term.

Friday afternoons will be buzzing with the new Junior School sport afternoon. We have programs from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 running. As of this week we have over 70 Junior School girls signed up ready to be active!

In the gym we have the newly designed MLCFIT program open to students from Year 5–Year 12 and with our Diving coach ‘Golden’ Shixin Lee we have more sessions and programs available.

Make sure you keep up to date with the newsletter each week so that you don’t miss any new and exciting opportunities that will be available.

Don’t forget, lets all join in and make 2026 the year to make the impossible possible!

– Sarah Jauncey
Director of Experiential Learning

Welcome to 2026!
