Further to last week’s\u00a0 report on HSC Showcase Nominations and Selections<\/a>, we have a exciting news to share with the MLC School community.<\/p>\n

Ava Eshragi \u2013 Selection \u2013 OnSTAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following two nominations in the HSC 2025 Showcase, Ava Eshragi has now received a Selection.<\/p>\n

OnSTAGE, Individual Project \u2013 Ava viewed live theatre productions that used bridal characters and imagery to assess their cultural significance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

To be selected into a Showcase event is an outstanding recognition. Congratulations Ava.<\/p>\n

ENCORE, Music Composition<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mia Johnston \u2013 Nomination\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

To be nominated for the HSC Showcase is a significant achievement as it acknowledges those projects as best in the State.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mia wrote three outstanding compositions this year, each very different but woven together by her playful compositional voice. Her Core composition was inspired by Australian Jazz greats such as Judy Bailey \u2013 a swinging, raucous big band piece with catchy melodies and surprising moments. Her extension pieces delved into more niche art music subgenres. She composed a string quartet inspired by the unique landscapes of Argentina, with Piazzolla-style tango colours. Finally, she wrote a punchy brass quartet, taking advantage of the deep resonance of the Tuba and the elasticity of the trumpet.<\/p>\n

Congratulations Mia.<\/p>\n

V-Fest, Film<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eve Banyer \u2013 V-Fest 2025 Selection<\/strong><\/p>\n

V-Fest is a distinguished student film festival held each year. Eve\u2019s creativity has been recognised with selection into the Senior Section of V-Fest 2025.<\/p>\n

Her outstanding short film \u2018Biloela\u2019<\/em> will be proudly screened at the historic Chauvel Cinema on Monday 8 December 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Congratulations to Eve.<\/p>\n
