For Year 12, this holiday is slightly different, with study camp and workshops being planned for next week and throughout the next three weeks. The holidays are a great opportunity to catch up, prepare for the Trials next term and focus, as well as planning some time to connect with friends and family. In Academic Care this week, Year 12 completed a study plan for the holidays to use their time well and feel more prepared, without the distractions the school environment can bring.

Week 9 is Round Square week, a special event in the MLC School calendar. Khushii Varma, Round Square Captain and Hattie Russell, Environment Captain, worked all week on their stalls and activities for Illuminate 2025. Hattie designed a Lazy Depop clothing stall, to raise awareness of overconsumption and the impact of fast fashion on the environment. It was a big hit, and the girls have worked hard all week. As a fundraising effort, all proceeds go to the Australian Conservation Foundation.

Our image this week is of Diversity Captain Anita Mohanan, Hattie Russell, Environment Captain and Amy Li, from the Round Square team. The Prescott Puppy Pageant was held on Monday, hosted by Hallie Hiss, Prescott House Captain and Skye Humphries, Prescott House Vice-Captain and Year 12 students Tahlia Jeffrey and Alison Wong’s prized pooches took out the prizes. The House Captains worked very hard on their individual game projects as part of the G. A. Davey Cup House Competition and were a great hit.

In co-curricular news, Tess Petschner, Amy Lee and Felicia Hannah, Fencing Captain, were successful in their individual events, representing MLC School for Fencing, winning seven medals from Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12. This is a fantastic achievement in a highly competitive and complex sport and the girls have been working hard on their events since Year 10. Our second image this week shows Tess Petschner on the podium after the epee event, while Felicia and Amy were successful in the foils. Angelina Le, Whitley House Captain and Sima Tebbutt, Basketball Captain were part of the successful MLC School Basketball team, winning their grand final last Saturday.

Whether you are taking a break outside Sydney or bunkering down in the beautiful winter sun, please encourage your daughters to get outside, take a walk to break up the study program. Ask them about what they are learning and offer help and support. They are facing a great challenge next term, and they will be ready, but they also do appreciate the interest. Talking about the topic is also a great way to revise! The Senior School Library will be open throughout the break, as well as Study Camp next week.

Celebrate Year 12 in a Different Way

Year 12 is an important time in your daughter’s life.
