\"\"What a week! We kicked off Week 4 with the MLC School Opera House Concert, always a memorable and special night for musicians as well as the broader Senior School community. I want to offer congratulations to our Year 8 musicians, their commitment, dedication and collaboration made for a polished performance on the night. Thank you as well to all of Year 8 for your rehearsals, enthusiasm and poise in performing in the massed choir. I am so proud of all your efforts and was simply in awe of you all as I stood side of stage and backstage throughout the night (photos attached from the rehearsal performance). \u00a0<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Year 8 had their cohort Chapel Service led by Pastor Caitlin Scott<\/strong>. The focus of the service was on spotlighting women who have been encouraged to lead others, guided by their faith. Students heard the biblical story of Deborah and in her reflection, Pastor Cailtin spoke of modern examples of women who have been guided to lead those around them, including Sojourner Truth and Malala Yousafzai. Thank you, as always, to our Year 8 student volunteers who offered to read a verse or prayer during the Service.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This week the Year 8 Service Initiative with Inner West Neighbourhood Aid commenced. Two groups of students travelled to Croydon Park Club on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon to meet with members of the local community to start their inter-generational relationships. We look forward to seeing the girls develop confidence in planning events, activities for their groups and working collaboratively in support of the Strong Together program. During our Year Meeting on Wednesday Xavier Maling<\/strong> (Cadet Coordinator) introduced Year 8 to the Cadet Program. He shared the role and responsibility of cadets and gave some insight into this cocurricular activity, commencing for those interested in Term 3! Year 8 also received some first-hand accounts of the varied experiences offered through the program with Year 12, Year 11, Year 10 and Year 9 students sharing what they have valued in their time as cadets and spoke to what students could expect should they take up this opportunity. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Just a note regarding uniform \u2013 several students are arriving at school without their tie and wearing the school scarf to disguise the fact. The scarf is not an essential part of the school uniform, but the tie is. Can I please ask for your support in ensuring your daughters are leaving the house in correct, full winter uniform? \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
