The performance of Alice Chance\u2019s composition &#8216;How will we know til we go\u2019 involved the MLC School massed choir, Senior School choir, Angeli choir and the Symphony Orchestra and was a highlight. Alice graduated from MLC School in 2011 and is currently our Head of Composition. It was in her final year at MLC School that Alice really started to believe that she could become a composer. She went on to study composition in Sydney and Paris and was awarded the 2024 APRA AMCOS Work of the Year: Large Ensemble for her work <em>The Changing Landscape<\/em>.\u00a0 Alice remembers her time singing from the stalls in the Opera House and thinking \u201cone day my work will be performed here.\u201d I truly hope that our current students felt equally inspired to dream because of their involvement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">While the concert was a collective effort and our students were truly remarkable, our Music staff deserve particular recognition. Congratulations to <strong>Harriet Hahn<\/strong> (Year 11) who placed third in the grand final of the prestigious Dame Edith Lyons Oratory Competition held at the Opera House on Wednesday night. In her 8-minute impromptu speech, Harriet passionately discussed the topic &#8220;for most of history, anonymous was a woman.&#8221; She emphasised the importance of single-sex schooling for girls to ensure they are heard and grow up confident in their right to hold an opinion and expecting it to be heard.
