Our Flags<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of our Collaborative Learning Project this term we have been exploring the concepts of identity (Belonging, Being and Becoming), culture, relationships and diversity.<\/p>\n

Each day our Pre-Kindergarten students view the flags in the Junior School playground as they walk to their studio in the morning and watch them \u2018dance in the wind\u2019 from their upstairs playground.<\/p>\n

We invited Ryan Naylor,<\/strong> Year 5 teacher and Second Lieutenant (AAC) with the School Cadets to introduce the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags to our Pre-Kindergarten students. This engaging session fostered a sense of respect and pride amongst the students as they explored the significant cultural symbols of each flag.<\/p>\n

The Pre-Kindergarten students listened very carefully to Ryan and each day they are ensuring the flags are hanging in the right direction and are not touching the ground. They are looking forward to assisting with presenting the flags each morning when they are in Year 5.<\/p>\n

Through this meaningful experience, we are nurturing informed, respectful and inclusive future citizens.<\/p>\n
