Last week was certainly the best thus far. Throughout the week we held our first ever Class Comp. Inspired by our Mini Olympics, we wanted to create an opportunity for the girls to work collaboratively and compete as a year group. The girls were split into the senior years (Year 10 \u2013 Year 12) and middle years (Year 7 \u2013 Year 9) divisions where they were able to participate in a range of disciplines including poem-writing, fairy bread relays and dancing.<\/div>\n

We kicked off Monday with a creative poetry competition where each year group crafted a poem using an animal metaphor to represent themselves: Year 8 chose an octopus, Year 9 an eagle, Year 10 bees, Year 11 a polar bear, and Year 12 a starfish. The English teachers awarded the win to the imaginative Year 8 octopi and the buzzing Year 10 bees.<\/div>\n

On Tuesday, the girls faced a fun and exciting fairy bread relay. In pairs, one girl made the fairy bread while the other ate it, only allowing them to tag the next duo once the bread was fully consumed. The competition was fierce, but Year 9 and Year 11 claimed victory.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Wednesday brought a lively dance competition where staff joined in on the fun. Each group had 10 minutes to choreograph a 30-second routine to ‘Can\u2019t Stop the Feeling.’<\/em> The energy was high as Ms Peace<\/strong> danced with bubbles, Mr Symes<\/strong> hit the griddy, and Ms Lee<\/strong> soared in the air. Year 7 and Year 12 were declared the winners.<\/div>\n

The week concluded with a challenging trivia contest for the Heads of Year. They answered questions about the School, tested their knowledge of each other, and tackled hypothetical scenarios judged by Ms Graffen <\/strong>(Head of Senior School).<\/strong> In the end, Ms White<\/strong> for Year 9 and Ms Pow<\/strong> for Year 12 emerged as the champions. It was an incredible week where girls from all year groups got involved and supported each other. Year 9 and Year 12 were crowned the overall winners and received framed certificates for their efforts.<\/div>\n

Year 12 Stay and Play<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
We ended the week with our Year 12 Stay and Play. It was such an amazing evening where we were able to come together as a year group and enjoy time together outside of an academic setting. We spent time as a year group playing dodgeball against teachers, giant jenga, cornhole and more and then were surprised with a popcorn machine before gathering in the amphitheatre to watch High School Musical Three. It was an extremely enjoyable night to begin the celebration of graduation and we are extremely grateful for all the teachers who stayed back with us. Our maths teacher Ms Lee<\/strong> even mentioned that it was a great opportunity to have fun with staff and students alike. A massive thank you to Ms Pow<\/strong> and Ms Graffen<\/strong> for organising the night, it will certainly be one of our highlights of the year.<\/div>\n
