Year 9

It’s been great to welcome the girls back to Term 4. Their change into the Senior uniform is a visual reminder that they are now ready for the next step of their Senior School journey. I have begun the handover with Angela Renwick, meeting with her regularly to ensure that there is a smooth shift into Year 10 and a new Head of Year.

Chatting to the girls in the yard, it’s clear that we are all getting used to our staycations and making the most of the opportunities to rest and relax close to home. During my break I took the time to watch the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma. It offers a fascinating insight into how social media firms operate and how they mine and use our data for profit. The main contributors of the documentary have all worked at the top of the biggest companies: Google, Facebook, Reddit and so on and so forth and therefore can speak with some authority. If you haven’t already seen it, I would encourage you to watch it and perhaps open a conversation with your daughter about her social media usage, and at the very least turning off notifications.

We welcome four new students to the Year group this week and are delighted to have Lilli-Rose Nasr returning to MLC School along with Elena Kotsis, Stephanie Megalli and Selina Yang.
