Year 9
This week marked the inaugural Year 6/Year 9 Buddy Session, a wonderful opportunity for our Year 9 students to step into a leadership role. Paired with a Year 6 student, they spent Luminary Time on Monday playing games, sharing food, and getting to know their younger buddies. It was a highly enjoyable and positive experience, and I was particularly impressed by the maturity, organisation, and ease with which our Year 9 students embraced this responsibility. The impact on our Year 6 students was equally evident; when we came together in Chapel on Tuesday, they were eagerly waving and smiling at their Year 9 buddies – a very heart‑warming sight. The photos for this week are from this session.
The Senior School is also celebrating Harmony Week this week, with a range of activities led by our Round Square IDEALS Society. During Luminary Time on Thursday, students were invited to decorate a figurine representing their cultural background, using flags, colours, traditional dress, or other meaningful symbols. The diversity and creativity of the designs were impressive and served as a powerful reminder of the rich multicultural community we are fortunate to have at MLC School. Weeks such as this provide valuable opportunities to celebrate and reflect on the importance of inclusion and belonging.
Finally, a reminder that permission and medical forms for Urban Challenge are now overdue. At the time of writing, 18 of the 89 students have not yet submitted the required documentation. I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter to ensure your child is able to participate.
