Year 9

With the Christmas spirit all around, Year 9 students are counting down the final days of the school year. The last week of term will see a House Christmas Challenge on Monday where students will be in their House groups for much of the day, culminating in a House vs House performance on Monday afternoon. Students will also have Luminary parties on Monday, and Speech Day rehearsals for those receiving prizes or playing in a musical item.

Year 9 have really grown up this year. Thinking back to the start of Year 8, and even just back six months to our first Immersion in May, the students have become more mature, and are truly blossoming into wonderful young people. I am enjoying watching them navigate challenges by using the supports that are in place for them here at School, working together with others, and most importantly, showing kindness to others. We will continue working on these skills throughout 2024.

Families, please ensure that you read the communications sent out via email about Speech Night. It is a compulsory school event and I look forward to seeing you with your Year 9 student next Thursday 7 December 2023 at the ICC, Darling Harbour.

As this is the last newsletter for the year, I would really like to thank all the Year 9 (formerly Year 8!) students and families for working with me throughout 2023. As I have mentioned previously, I will remain the Head of Year for this spectacular cohort of students until the end of 2024, so I will be back when School returns in January to continue to guide the students through their Middle Years.

I would like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday season and thank you for your ongoing support. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
