Year 8

Year 8

On Wednesday, students engaged in immersive experiences related to our Sense of Place program during the Academic Care session. The theme of Academic Care for this session was Indigenous Theology and the presentation examined how some Aboriginal people follow their traditional belief systems while also being Christian. Brooke Prentis, an Aboriginal Christian Leader, shared with Year 8 how the Dreaming provides Aboriginal people with a framework for understanding the Creator, guidelines on connecting to creation, and principles for maintaining relationships. She compared this with similar concepts in Christianity. Brooke also highlighted prominent Aboriginal Christian leaders and explained how their Christian faith has influenced their involvement in the Aboriginal rights movement. Students should have by now completed a reflection in their Immersion Journal, as a way of marking their understanding of Ms Prentis’ message and teachings.

Year 8 students have largely been wearing their uniforms well, but many forget key items in preparation for morning Sports training. Can I please ask your support in ensuring your daughter brings her sports bag with a formal school uniform to change into following training?
