Year 8

I wanted to talk a little this week about how wonderful it has been to see students participating so positively in our rehearsals for the Opera House Concert. It is simply wonderful to come together as a Senior School each week to rehearse a collection of songs which will in a few months’ time be sung to an audience of parents, carers and other special guests. Thank you to all of Year 8 for the contributions to these rehearsals by respectfully following the instructions of our fantastic music staff and raising their voices loudly – it is a delight to behold!  

This week our Clubs and Societies Lunchtime Expo was held on the Bird Bath Quad during lunch on Wednesday. It was a lively event where students could see, hear and learn about the variety of clubs on offer. All of Year 8 are encouraged to consider joining a club and society to share their passions with students from their cohorts and other students in the Senior School. Senior School Societies are co-led by both students and teachers and provide a safe and collaborative environment to share ideas and interests:

With summative Assessment Tasks commencing in Week 6 (Starting Monday 3 March), I also encourage students to ensure they are reviewing the resources found on their Academic Care Canvas page. This page also includes the worksheets shared through Dr Salter’s Study Skills workshop held for the cohort in Week 4. A reminder that Dr Salter’s study skills site can be accessed by students and parents alike. It has micro-courses in a large variety of study skills, as well as a plethora of handy resources.
