Year 8
This week was a busy week for Year 8, with assessments, the first House time for the term and many co-curricular activities.
We commenced the week with a special Year 8 Chapel service run by Lynne Bondar, which was focused on the importance of kindness and service. The students were challenged to consider how they could give their talents, skills and time to serve others this term. Thank you to the following students for volunteering to read and assist during the service:
- Piya Kaur
- Aurora Kang
- Chloe Oh
- Matilda Shipard
- Sasha Juel-Smart
- Tina Guan
- Grace Barnes
During the service, we also acknowledged the service of Jasmin Srisathkurunathan who organised a bake sale to raise money for the STXBP1 Australia Foundation, a charity that supports research into the development of therapies for STXBP1 disorders. Thank you to the Year 8 students who volunteered their time to bake and run the stall on Monday to support an important cause that has a special connection to the MLC School community.
Today and tomorrow, we look forward to hosting the IGSA Festival of Speech at MLC School. More than 20 Year 8 students have put their hand up to volunteer across both days, and I thank them for their service to support a fantastic event.
A final reminder that during Term 4, students are not to wear their school jumper as the outer garment as they arrive to school and depart each afternoon. If your daughter wishes to wear her jumper, she should ensure she is also wearing her blazer as the outer garment as she leaves home. Thank you for your assistance to ensure your daughter wears her uniform with pride as we seek to set and maintain the highest standards.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me by email here, or your daughter’s Luminary teacher if you need any assistance.
