Year 6 – Dancing, Growing and Sticking Together!
💃🧠
This term, Year 6 students are diving into two meaningful Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) units that focus on self-expression, collaboration, and emotional awareness.
In practical lessons, the ‘Let’s Dance’ unit is all about movement and creativity. Students are exploring a range of dance styles, learning how to create and perform choreographed routines with purpose. Through this, they’re developing their coordination, timing, spatial awareness, and confidence while working together to achieve shared performance goals.
In theory lessons, the focus shifts to the ‘Sticking Together’ unit, which centres on understanding and managing emotions. Students are learning how emotions can change depending on different situations and how these emotional responses influence the decisions they make. The unit also explores how personal identity is shaped and encourages students to build skills for managing relationships, coping with change, and recognising their own strengths.
These units support the development of confident, self-aware students who can express themselves, work well with others, and make positive choices for their health and wellbeing.
