Year 12

Year 12

In Chapel this term, the senior students have been learning about key women in the Bible and the lessons we can learn from them. They are great role models of leadership, strength, compassion and resilience – strong women who rose above the problems of their time to lead and care for others. We have learned about Deborah, a judge and leader of her people and Miriam, a leader, musician and dancer. Amy Lee led the music for the Senior Service. The girls sit in House groups, and this is a great way to build culture and connections within the Luminary groups. The House culture in Year 12 is very strong, with the girls having been together in Luminary, House time and assemblies since Year 7.

Assessment deadlines are upon us and please encourage your daughters to seek help if they need it. Study Hub, mentors and your daughter’s teachers are available to help plan study, review feedback on practice responses, or to simply listen and support. Study periods on Level 3 are a great access point for meeting teachers and for collaborating in small study groups. The teacher roster is published each week on Canvas for Study Hub so that girls can access the expertise of teachers at school. We have had very positive feedback on Study Hub and are glad that it is now a feature on the timetable. A reminder to parents that all sessions outside of class time – Luminary, chapel, study periods and assemblies are compulsory for all Year 12 students.

Thank you for your participation in the Year 12 Parent/Teacher Night last week. We hope the discussions were productive and informative, as we navigate our way to the Trial examinations. Study sessions for various subjects are becoming available for students over the break, with guest speakers and workshops organised and presented by MLC School staff. Students are made aware of these via their classroom teachers and Canvas.

The Captains, lead by Marirose Giann, School Captain, decorated the common room with the theme of ‘100’ – 100 days to graduation. They will put up envelopes on the wall of the common room, where each student can leave supportive messages for each other throughout next term.

If you are concerned about an academic issue, please contact your daughter’s classroom teacher and myself or your daughter’s Luminary for wellbeing concerns. Omnia the parent portal, has information on Illness/Misadventure and Extension applications, you can find this in Omnia/School Information/Forms or you can access by clicking here.

Finally, I’d like to draw your attention to the Study Camp we are running in the break – these are highly recommended for all those who can attend.
