Year 11

Year 11

This week, Year 11 met with their Year 7 Little Sisters and led them in a Kindness Tree Activity. Each Year 11 Luminary group, led by their Luminary Representatives guided Year 7 in conversations about kindness and ways to make sure their peers experience a sense of belonging. The activity not only encouraged Year 7 to reflect how they can contribute positively to their peer environment but also provided them a safe place to talk about their feelings and reinforced the importance of empathy, inclusion and respectful relationships. Year 11 improved their compassionate leadership capacity guiding Year 7 through sensitive topics and modelled emotional maturity and resilience.

On Thursday 7 August, May Nguyen, Anna Obaid and Anisha Sivagurunathan organised a Jeans for Genes Day. The Jeans for Genes initiative is a fundraising campaign which raises awareness and funds for children’s genetic diseases. The Children’s Medical Research Institute, an organisation which works tirelessly to discover new treatments and cures for birth defects and genetic disease, benefits enormously from this initiative. Thank you May, Anna and Anisha.

Year 11 Retreat

On the first week of Term 4, Year 11 will be heading off on their last whole year-group camp. It will be a special time, and I have asked for volunteers for a committee to promote student voice and to contribute ideas to making their time memorable. We met for the first time on Thursday 7 August. One of the initial ideas is that students would love if parents could write a small affirmation note for the students to open while they are on camp along with notes that teachers and students will write for each other.

Please consider writing a short affirmation to your daughter as they come to the end of Year 11 and are about to embark on their final year of schooling. You can either provide your daughter with the affirmation in an envelope to bring to me or you can provide an envelope to Front Reception. The affirmations will be opened while on retreat. Please write these by the end of term so they can be packed for camp.

The camp note for the retreat should go out by the beginning of Week 6 (beginning Monday 25 August 2025), however, Year 11 will begin voting on a theme and providing their peer preferences for rooming and group options next week before their examination block.
