Year 11

During this week’s Academic Care session, students attended a presentation by David Posker-Hill, Academic Care Coordinator, on effective note-taking skills. This essential tool will benefit them not only throughout Year 11 and Year 12 but also in any further education they may pursue. The school has provided all students with access to the ‘Study Skills Handbook,’ compiled by Prue Salter. This resource offers extensive information on study skills, time management, handling distractions, overcoming procrastination, maintaining wellbeing, and setting up both short-term and long-term planners. Students have been provided with the details on how to log in.

On the last day of term, we will host the annual MLC School Colour Run. As part of the fundraising efforts for the MLC School Sony Foundation Camp, there will also be a bake sale on this day. Year 11 students have been assigned the responsibility of organising this event, which includes setting up, selling items, and most importantly, providing the goods to be sold. We encourage Year 11 students to take ownership of this initiative. Please motivate your daughter to practice her cooking skills in the kitchen. Both sweet and savoury items are welcome, as they sell equally well.

As the weather becomes colder, the temptation to deviate from the correct uniform increases. However, there are several uniform pieces designed to combat the cold, including pants, scarves, and the MLC School duffel coat. Additionally, it is mandatory for students to wear the blazer to and from school each day. Several Year 11 students have mentioned that their blazers no longer fit or that they do not own one. With 18 months remaining in their schooling at MLC School and many significant events ahead, it is crucial for students to have a properly fitting blazer.
