Year 10

Year 10

This week during Luminary Year 10 voted for a Speech Night award, the Phyllis E Watt Prize for leadership. This prize is for a student voted by peers who has shown great leadership and has given selfless service to the School in the same way Phyllis did. As a 4th Form Mistress (now Year 10), Phyllis was a selfless person, utterly dedicated to the MLC School and her ‘girls’.

On Thursday 31 October, our Peer Support students from Year 10 led sessions with Year 7 on Strengthening our Connections. A long-known and research-driven tool to promote resilience, MLC School devotes time to planning and strengthening connections for students and continuing to evolve and reflect on how we can promote a sense of belonging for all students.

At the Senior School Assembly on Wednesday 30 October, leadership positions were announced to support our Year 12 Leadership team. Congratulations go to our Year 11 SRC representatives Laila Chopra, Zoya Rezainia and Sasha Murray, and the Captain of Water Polo, Zoe Pollard. I am sure they will enjoy the opportunity. A special shout-out goes out to all the students who had put themselves forward for SRC or sub-captain positions, it takes courage to nominate and then to congratulate your peers for receiving positions. Thank you to our outgoing Year 10 SRC representatives Julia Choi, Sophie Winnall and Ze Wong, I know they enjoyed the experience of working with the 2024 Vice Captains and being part of a collaborative team.

It is getting very exciting as the Year 10 Immersions grow close and a modified timetable once Year 10 come back from the immersions in Week 6. Please see David Posker-Hill’s piece from last week regarding this. I can feel the pull of Year 11 drawing close for our cohort and am excited for the changes that are ahead for them.
