Thank You From the Japanese Culture Society

This week at JCS, we played two rounds of pass-the-parcel with Japanese snacks as prizes!

Labor Thanksgiving Day (Kinro Kansha no Hi) is a national holiday celebrated on 23 November in Japan. Rooted in ancient agricultural rituals, it has evolved into a day to express gratitude to all workers.

Businesses and schools close, allowing people to spend time with family and friends. Many visit shrines to offer prayers of thanks, and various events take place nationwide. The day symbolises respect and appreciation for the contributions of the workforce. It’s a significant occasion, recognising the value of labour and fostering a sense of gratitude within Japanese society, honouring the collective efforts that contribute to the nation’s prosperity.

Thanks for coming to JCS this year, and we hope you have a wonderful break!! See you next year!!
