This is a compulsory event for all students to attend.
TICKETS
We are pleased to offer four tickets to families for the Senior School event. Please see the end of this email for the booking link.
Students do not need to book a ticket as they will be seated in allocated areas – not with their parents.
This is a compulsory school day and non-attendance will be treated as an absence. Leave from such events is not routinely granted by the Deputy Principal.
UNIFORM FOR SPEECH DAY
- Middle Years (Year 7 to Year 9) students are to wear their summer school dress, with navy blue folded over ankle socks, and blazers.
- Senior Years (Year 10 to Year 12) students are to wear formal School uniform of short sleeved shirt and senior skirt, with sheer black stockings, and blazers.
- All uniforms are to be clean and pressed, with shoes freshly polished. Hair that is longer than shoulder length should be tied back with navy ribbon or black or navy elastic.
- No hair adornment, makeup or jewellery, other than a watch and small silver or gold studs or sleepers, is to be worn.
ARRIVAL AT THE ICC
Please arrive at the Darling Harbour Theatre at the Ceremonial Entrance on Iron Wharf Place in the International Convention Centre.
Parents and Guests are asked to arrive at 5pm for 5.30pm commencement.
Year 7 to Year 11 2023 students are asked to arrive at 4.15pm. Please note: Some students will receive advice about earlier arrival times separately.
Year 12 2023 students are asked to arrive at 3.30pm and be seated by 3.45pm.
SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA STRINGS, STAGE BAND AND SENIOR CHOIR
Senior School musicians including the choir, are asked to arrive at 2.30pm to the Darling Harbour Theatre for a rehearsal. Following the rehearsal, there will be a short afternoon tea break in the theatre. Students should bring food in a small disposable bag and a disposable drink. Large bags, lunch boxes and drink bottles are not permitted in the theatre. Food will not be available for purchase.
On arrival, students will be required to have their name marked off when they enter the theatre by MLC School staff and have their uniform checked. They will be seated in year groups, not with their parents or guests.
DISMISSAL FROM THE ICC
Speech Night is expected to conclude between 7pm–7.30pm.
At the end of the evening, the students will leave in year groups and be directed to wait in the foyer downstairs at the Iron Wharf Place entry where they can meet their families.
