Speech and Drama students winners all round

Speech and Drama students winners all round

A massive congratulations to our students who all achieved winning places at the Inner West and Parramatta Eisteddfods last weekend. It was the final weekend of the Inner West Paramatta eisteddfod with Anisha Sivagurunathan (Year 11) winning first place at the Inner West Eisteddfod and the Kathryn Carter Memorial shield, and Aryana Sah (Year 11) achieving first place in the Open Age Character recital. This will likely be the last eisteddfod for these seasoned performers who have been competing as a duo, achieving winning places in every year they have performed since their Junior years. This was their first year performing solo and it didn’t hold them back.

A huge congratulations to Rachael (Pip) McGuire (Year 9) who achieved an impressive Highly commended in the Open age Shakespeare, performing with students two years older. Pip is also an experienced eisteddfod performer competing every year in multiple categories with outstanding results.

Our younger performers Natasha (Gem) McGuire (Year 4) and Sonia Chung (Year 4) lit up the stage with an impressive 2nd Place in Duologue in Costume at the Parramatta eisteddfod over the weekend. This was their 3rdeisteddfod this year, along with the Inner West and Ryde eisteddfods. Sonia and Gem have been performing in eisteddfods together from a very young age.

We are so proud of all our speech and drama students’ excellent achievements at the Inner West, Parramatta, Ryde and Sydney eisteddfods this term. MLC School students again impressed the Adjudicator, cementing our excellent reputation in the wider Burwood community and speech and drama circles.  They are wonderful representatives of MLC School.

The eisteddfods offer our students the opportunity to perform in front of an audience, challenge themselves to step out of their comfort zone and every year get a little bit braver.  Most importantly the eisteddfods are fun and create lasting memories.
