Speech and Drama Eisteddfod Superstars
We are so proud of all of our Speech and Drama students’ excellent achievements at the Inner West, Parramatta, Ryde and Sydney Eisteddfods. The Inner West Eisteddfod wraps this Sunday with our Senior Character Recital in costume, Shakespeare sections and Scholarship. We still have more students participating in the Ryde and Sydney Eisteddfods in the coming weeks and next term. We are extremely proud of our students’ dedication, confidence and excellent performances.
A special mention to Meena Kanthathas (Year 10) and Sophia Hu (Year 10) who have been members of the Speech and Drama Studio since early primary years and are seasoned Eisteddfod participants. Sophia and Meena have placed in every Eisteddfod they have entered over many years. Their recent success is listed below.
From seasoned performers to first timers, the Speech and Drama Studio students shine at the eisteddfods. Rachel Rodrigues (Year 3) has been a speech and drama student in her early years. This year she commenced private lessons and entered her very first Speech and Drama eisteddfod. She performed brilliantly in the verse speaking and character recital in Costume sections at the Inner West Eisteddfod. She also entered the 9-10 years Championship. Rachel was awarded 96.5%, Highly Commended and 4th Place in the Year 9-10 Championship. An amazing achievement for an eight year old competing against older students. We are so proud of her.
Best of luck to Anisha Sivaguranthan (Year 11), Aryana Sah (Year 11) and Pip Macguire (Year 9) performing in the final day of the Inner West Eisteddfod this Sunday.

‘We started doing Speech and Drama Duo in Year 3 in 2018. Since then we have participated in numerous ASCA and Trinity exams and competed together in the Inner West and Paramatta Eisteddfods over many years. This year, we had the privilege of competing at both the Inner West Eisteddfod and Parramatta Eisteddfod. It was a transformative experience as we had the chance to compete in new categories and were able to watch other competitors. Performing in front of unfamiliar audiences pushed us out of our comfort zones and sharpened our stage presence. At Parramatta, we entered the impromptu telephone conversation category for the first time, a challenge that forced us to think on the sport and act creatively. At Inner West we entered our signature categories, Improvisation and Duologue, and enjoyed them both thoroughly.’
