Research Partnership with the Australian Education Research Organisation

We are excited to announce that MLC School is participating in an innovative research project in partnership with the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO).

This national project aims to enhance the effectiveness of online professional learning for teachers through the vehicle of phonics training, comparing two cohorts of schools who receive the same core training, with one cohort receiving additional professional learning in the form of online teaching demonstrations.

The research project lasts for two years and involves our Kindergarten to Year 2 staff undertaking 12 hours of professional learning, adding to their strong knowledge base on the teaching of phonics, aligning their teaching strategies to cutting-edge research in the Science of Reading; and tracking student progress through a valid and reliable screening tool. In addition, across the two-year program our teachers will be collaborating with each other to apply the evidence-based strategies and contributing to the research through interviews and surveys.

MLC School is very pleased to be taking part in this research partnership that will enhance learning and teaching and help shape the future of online teacher training nationally.
