PDHPE – Year 7 Play Invasion Games
MLC School students (and their Personal Development, Health and Physical Education – PDHPE – teachers) love invasion games. So, it was with great excitement that Year 7 students found out that Term 3 practical lessons were based around them.
Invasion games require teamwork, communication, decision making and spatial awareness- an excellent way of developing important skills in a dynamic and enjoyable way.
Within a few weeks of this unit beginning, students have relished the challenges posed by games such as bench ball, capture the flag, hungry hippos and rob the nest, just to name a few. They have pushed their own boundaries to learn new tactics and strategies and enjoyed victories within their teams along the way. Whilst students’ competitiveness is well and truly apparent, it has been balanced with consistent displays of sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork.
