MLC School Portrait Prize 2023
We invite all Junior School artists to submit a portrait for this year’s Portrait Prize. The theme for this year is:
‘My Story’
The following questions are prompts to assist with gathering ideas for your portrait:
- What is your subject’s story about being Australian?
- How can you tell a person’s story through a portrait?
- Is your subject’s story rooted in family, community, culture or nation, or something else altogether?
Entry Guidelines:
- Open to all JS students – Pre-Kindergarten to Year 5;
- Only one entry per student;
- The artwork must be the student’s own work;
- Entries can be portraits in most artistic medium (eg painting, drawing, collage, textiles etc) but must be two dimensional (2D). No photographic or digital art please;
- Entries should be created on quality A3 or A4 paper. You are welcome to collect paper from the Art Studio;
- The entry form must be completed and submitted with your portrait. Hard and soft copies of the form will be made available later in the term;
- Entries close on Friday 1 September 2023 (Week 7);
- Winning entries will be announced at assembly on Thursday 14 September 2023 (Week 9);
- Winning entries will also be entered into selected external art competitions;
- All works entered will be on display in the Junior School and selected works will be celebrated in the School Newsletter;
- Each entry will be awarded a point for your House.
