From the Deputy Head of Senior School – Wellbeing
Year 7 Wellbeing Day
On Thursday, our Year 7 students participated in a dedicated Wellbeing Day, a program designed to foster connection, belonging, and group cohesion as students continue to shape their identity and build new friendships throughout Year 7.
When students feel connected to their school community, through relationships with peers, teachers, and the broader environment, they are more likely to experience emotional safety, resilience, and motivation to learn. A strong sense of belonging nurtures trust, inclusion, and respect, which are essential for wellbeing and success both socially and academically.
Throughout the day, students engaged in interactive sessions and team-building activities led by Burnbright, aimed at developing collaboration skills, self-efficacy, and resilience. Toolbox Education guided students through understanding how the brain responds to stress and introduced calming strategies to help them respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively in emotionally charged situations. Year 7 also had the oppportunity to participate in a range of fun activities on the Sports field, aimed at increasing opportunity for movement, team building and problem solving.
These experiences are designed to ensure students feel seen, heard and valued, empowering them to navigate challenges, manage stress, and build lasting resilience.
We encourage parents to talk with your daughters about the day, what they learned, how they felt, and any strategies they found helpful. Your engagement reinforces the importance of wellbeing and helps strengthen the connection between school and home.
