Duke of Edinburgh Award – Official Launch to Year 8

Duke of Edinburgh Award – Official Launch to Year 8

Near the end of last term, I had the pleasure of speaking with the Year 8 students at MLC School about the Duke of Edinburgh Award. This week, I returned to the Year 8 assembly to officially launch the Award and handed out a Duke of Edinburgh Award Starter Pack to each student. This pack contains all the information and forms they need to participate in the International Award. If anyone misplaces their pack, we have spare ones available at the Studies Office.

For anyone that isn’t aware of what the Award is about, the following link with take you to the MLC School Duke of Ed Padlet page by clicking on the link below.

Since MLC School is part of the ‘all of year’ program for Year 9, age restrictions for starting the Bronze level don’t apply. All students can now begin at age 13. Students that are already 14 can start immediately. Others should submit their paperwork so we can activate their accounts as soon as possible to comply with the Award’s guidelines.

It’s important to know that I’m at the School every Monday to help students incorporate their existing activities, whether at school or in their own time, into the Award. This means there’s very little extra effort needed to earn it.

I encourage the students to come and see me during any Monday lunchtime in SCG01 if they need assistance.
