Year 10
We’ve been celebrating achievements and diversity in Year 10 this week. In a busy week of assessments and preparation, Year 10 found time to reflect on the meaning of Harmony Week during Luminary Time and in Chapel. The music was beautiful and Potts Hall gave the ceremony a very special atmosphere
In a range of achievements celebrated this week, Veronica Pan was invited to perform at the AMEB ceremony after receiving her LMusA with Distinction in Clarinet. Georgia Coxsedge has been selected to play as a Shadow in the Football NSW U16 State Teams. Georgie is also competing for selection in NSW Hockey and NPL Football. Melisande Pitman and the Year 10 Round Square group participated in an online postcard with Australian and overseas schools, discussing issues on International Women’s Day.
Anna Michalopoulos, Head of Counselling and Student Health, and the Counselling Team gave a great presentation on self-esteem and confidence. ‘Miss Anna’ showed the girls how to manage negative self-talk, how to ‘talk yourself up’ and how comparing yourself to others is ‘the thief of joy’. Year 10 participated so well and listened attentively. For access to our counselling department, students can check in with their Luminary, myself or self-refer by emailing the counsellors on Counsellor@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au.
The girls will be busy over the next couple of weeks, managing their assessment program and for some, preparing for Cadet camp. We encourage the girls to prioritise their diet and sleep for brain health and exercise to channel stress into something more positive. Sometimes friendships and relationships are tested and we encourage the girls to be kind to themselves and others in the process.
Thanks for your participation in the vaccination program this week. If your daughter missed out on the vaccination at school, please see your local GP for advice.
For academic issues, please reach out to your daughter’s class teacher. For pastoral and wellbeing issues, please contact your daughter’s Luminary or me. I am available on sconnolly1@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au or 02 8741 9736 by phone or on Teams. We also offer on-site meetings and welcome parents to come in to school to discuss their daughter’s wellbeing.
