Chaplain’s Corner
Honouring International Women’s Day and Harmony WeekCelebrating and honouring International Women’s Day and Harmony Week continued throughout the School this week and our School Chapel Service was blessed with the leadership of our Music, Community and Round Square Captains.
During chapel, a special Bible reading from Colossians 3:12-15 was shared, encouraging our School community to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. We honour the women in our lives – mothers, grandmothers, aunties, daughters, leaders, teachers, and friends – who demonstrate compassion, resilience, and care every day. Their nurturing spirits foster unity and peace within our families, communities, and society. By celebrating women, we acknowledge the richness and strength they bring to our collective story.
St Paul teaches us: ‘And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.’ Love is what connects everything. It turns compassion into action, forgiveness into reconciliation, and kindness into belonging.
When we celebrate Harmony Week and International Women’s Day together, we recognise that harmony and equality are intrinsically linked. Genuine harmony is built upon respecting and uplifting every individual, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard. As young people, our girls hold the power to shape the future – by listening, standing up against prejudice, and striving for fairness.
It is my prayer that the MLC School community will be inspired to reach out, connect, and celebrate the unique strengths and gifts of each person – choosing kindness, inclusion, compassion, and equality… making our School and community a place where everyone belongs and everyone thrives!
