Year 11

Year 11

Year 11 had a wonderful week, highlighted by our celebration of Harmony Week. Thursday was a particularly special day as students came dressed in cultural attire and a splash of orange to recognise Harmony Day’s message of inclusivity, respect and belonging. The diversity within the MLC School community is a real strength, and it was amazing to see this celebrated so proudly by our students.

During Luminary time on Thursday, we held our second session with the Year 11 students’ Little Year 7 Sisters. This continues to be one of my favourite parts of our pastoral program. I love seeing the excitement, care and genuine connection the Year 11 students bring to these sessions. The girls planned a range of engaging activities, including outdoor games, baby photo competitions and quizzes, all designed to help the Year 7 students feel welcomed and get to know their Big Sisters better. I am incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and the positive role modelling, leadership and guidance they are providing.

We also continued our focus on leadership this week. On Monday, students spent time exploring their individual strengths and passions, and reflecting on what each person can contribute to a team. These conversations are helping students develop greater self-awareness and an appreciation of the diverse strengths within their cohort.

Finally, this week Stephanie Keo and Jocelyn Su had the exciting opportunity to participate in the first Youth Advisory Board for the Strathfield electorate. They engaged in thoughtful discussions about decisions impacting young people and shared their perspectives on issues relevant to their generation. This was a valuable leadership experience and a wonderful example of student voice in action. You can read more about their experience here.
